A retreat is time taken out of the busyness of everyday life to quieten ourselves in God’s presence and to pay attention to our soul. The example of Jesus taking time apart and the consistent experience of people throughout church history point us towards the benefits of such times. Yet, retreat remains a well-known but often-neglected discipline.
This half-day retreat provides some space and some structure to pause and to pay attention to life and to God.
The focus of this retreat is not on teaching or content, Rather it is on reflection and paying attention to yourself, what is happening in your life and where God is within it all.
The day will start with a simple act of worship. The retreat will then consist of two parts, each of which will begin with a short talk to set the scene and to give a focus for reflection. You will be given some prompts and ideas for reflection. The main part of each session will then be given for you to spend time with God – this gift of time and space is the main purpose of the retreat.
There will be a coffee break halfway through the morning with some refreshments provided.
