Gareth Black
BD, MTh, MSc
Originally from Belfast, Gareth has served the local church as a Bible teacher, evangelist and youth minister in London, Oxford and Newtownabbey (Northern Ireland). As a speaker with the Solas (Centre for Public Christianity) he is passionate about engaging people’s intellectual, experiential and moral objections to Christianity, as well as demonstrating how the bible addresses some of the most pressing questions of contemporary Western culture.
Formerly a Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, Gareth’s main academic research involves bioethics (medical ethics) and New Testament studies. He is currently reading for a doctorate in Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford, and holds degrees in theology from both Queen’s University Belfast (BD) and Oxford (MTh), as well as an MSc in Bioethics from King’s College London.
He is a member of Glenabbey Church and lives in Ballyclare with his wife Amy and their family.
