Dr. Helen Warnock

Lecturer in Youth Ministry

Helen was Principal of Belfast Bible College from the end of 2016 to the beginning of 2022. Previously she worked for YFCNI and led Scripture Union in NI, as well as engaging with leadership networks from across the Churches in Northern Ireland, along with the Christian Charity Sector. Helen also led and co-ordinated Connect 2020 - a youth ministry practitioners' learning community across Northern Ireland and has recently completed her Doctorate in Practical Theology through Chester University, researching Youth Ministry in Northern Ireland.

Helen's main research interests lie in the area of Youth Ministry, aiming to better understand the nature of youth ministry today and explore areas of practice both for youth ministry and ministry at large. Her own doctorate research investigated the nature of youth ministry in Northern Ireland and as such, she is committed to exploring the significance of context for practice and especially helping those seeking to engage with ministry and practice in the Northern Irish context.

Helen has vast ministry leadership experience; working with the local church, YFCNI and then for 13 years she was the General Director of Scripture Union Northern Ireland, a role she has treasured. She is passionate about seeing all ages develop and grow in their faith and is particularly invested in seeing people engage with God through His Word and uncover their potential as faith, life and work intersect. 

She is a regular speaker at conferences throughout Northern Ireland.  She teaches and facilitates training for various local churches and para church agencies on areas related to Bible engagement, leadership, strategy and youth ministry.

Helen is currently on the Leadership Team with Carnmoney Central PCI and an Elder at Carnmoney Presbyterian Church. She is also a Board member for both No More Traffic and Contemporary Christianity.
