Doctor of Philosophy (PHd)

This pathway is designed for those who place a high value on original research and it is open to candidates with a Masters in theological subjects (awarded at 60 or above) or a primary degree in theology (awarded at a high 2.1 and above) or equivalent from a recognised university or college. 

Master of Philosophy (MPhil)

This pathway is designed for those who place a high value on original research and it is open to candidates with a Masters in theological subjects (awarded at 60 or above) or a primary degree in theology (awarded at a high 2.1 and above) or equivalent from a recognised university or college. 

Master of Theology (MTh)

This programme is designed for those who place a high value on research and is open to candidates with a primary degree (2.1 and above) in theology. For those with a degree in another subject, the Institute of Theology require the successful completion of a Graduate Diploma in Theology comprising one year of full-time study. For the MTh award, students complete four modules and a Dissertation of 20,000 words. The MTh can be completed in one year on a full-time basis, or two years on a part-time basis.

There are four academic pathways for Postgraduate study at BBC:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Theological Studies (PGDipTS)

The Postgraduate Diploma is an internal award of Belfast Bible College, and can be completed over one year. It is open to those who already have an undergraduate degree in any subject.

  • Masters in Theology (MTh)
  • Masters in Philosophy (MPhil)
  • PhD
