Faith at work

Faith at work is a recently established initiative of Belfast Bible College, the vision of which is to see an increasing number of Christians equipped and empowered to bring the work of Christ into their daily work.

Most people spend 40-50% of their waking lives in the workplace. The reality is that if our faith does not work here, it doesn't really work at all. The Bible is full of information about a working God, who called working people to follow him, and sent His Son to live amongst us as a working carpenter.

Through the provision of specialist courses, training and events the initiative aims to:

  • Actively encourage and practically equip Christians in various sectors to express their faith with understanding, enthusiasm and integrity.
  • Resource churches and ministries to empower and equip those whom they serve to live faithfully in the working world.
  • Teach and train our students that all Christians are gifted and called by God to minister in all aspects of life.

Belfast Bible College takes seriously the education, nurturing and equipping of the whole people of God - to live and work as servant leaders in the home, the marketplace and the church.

The faith at work initiative was set up to wrestle with the issues we all face in the workplace. It began in 2008 when Belfast Bible College's Principal, David Shepherd gathered together a small team of interested people who organised a number of events.

John Scott joined the college in August 2010 to co-ordinate the Faith at Work initiative alongside his work with Daylight Christian Prison Trust.
