The course is designed to allow you to begin to develop the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to live, and help others live the life of faith in the contemporary world. The course includes a range of learning experiences including a weekly ministry placement. |


Number of modules12 Course potentialStudents who complete the Diploma in Theology can, at the university’s discretion, complete an additional year of study to progress towards the BA in Theology, but are also prepared for entry into a range of ministry opportunities. |
This two year course in Theology is offered in partnership with the University of Cumbria. The course is designed to allow students to further develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to live, and help others live the life of faith in the contemporary world. In order to facilitate this, the course includes a range of learning experiences including a weekly ministry placement, a four week block placement, and other work based learning opportunities. |

This three year honours degree in Theology is offered in partnership with the University of Cumbria. The course has a strong ministry focus, and is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to live, and help others live the life of faith in the contemporary world. The course includes a wide range of learning experiences including weekly ministry placements and international placement opportunities, as well as the opportunity to undertake independent research in an area of interest. |


Number of modules18 Course potentialStudents who are awarded a 2:1 degree and wish to pursue further study, can progress to the Masters in Theology course also offered by QUB, but BD graduates are also well placed to enter a range of vocations and ministry opportunities. |
The BD programme is an honours degree, awarded by Queen’s University, Belfast. The course is designed to help you develop critical thinking and to allow you to think deeply about biblical truths that will shape your future life and ministry. It may be of particular interest to those who have a desire to go on to formal ministry training within a particular denomination, or those who have a strong interest in biblical languages. Students on the BD pathway must study Greek and Hebrew as a compulsory element of the course. |

The BTh programme is an honours degree, awarded by Queen’s University, Belfast. The course is designed to help you develop critical thinking and to allow you to think deeply about biblical truths that will shape your future life and ministry. The BTh offers students a greater degree of flexibility in module choice, while also providing an excellent foundation for a range of vocations, including teaching, youth work, social work and church work. |


Number of modules1 Course potentialThe PhD leaves students well qualified to pursue involvement in theological education or engage in tertiary level teaching. |
The PhD is a highly regarded research degree awarded by Queen’s University, Belfast which can be taken over three years full–time or four to six years part–time. Students are expected to have a 2.1 honours degree in Theology, from a recognised university, as well as a Master’s degree in Theology. For further information on the programme, please click here.
Before applying for this programme, interested individuals should contact us to discuss their research interests. A meeting would then be set up with a prospective supervisor. Supervision is normally available in all the main theological disciplines. |

The Graduate Diploma in Theology (GDip) awarded by Queen’s University is a foundational postgraduate qualification in Theology, open to applicants who already hold an honours degree from a recognised university, at 2.1 level, in a subject other than Theology. It is ideally suited to graduates who desire to develop a foundational understanding in Theology, at a postgraduate level. The Graduate Diploma can also be completed on a part–time basis over two years. This one year postgraduate qualification is awarded by Queen’s University, Belfast and is ideally suited to those who place a high value on research and independent study. It is open to those who have a primary degree (2.1 and above) in theology, from a recognised university. For those with a degree in another subject, the Institute of Theology require the successful completion of a Graduate Diploma in Theology comprising one year of full–time study. The MTh can also be completed on a part–time basis.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Theological Studies is an internal award of BBC, open to those who have a 2.2 degree in any subject, and who wish to pursue a postgraduate qualification. This course is ideally suited to those who are looking for greater flexibility of study, and who wish to pursue more independent learning than is available at undergraduate level. It may be of particular interest to those currently engaged in, or preparing for overseas ministry who wish to focus their studies on a particular aspect of mission or ministry. This is a one semester course of study, leading to an internal award from Belfast Bible College. It offers students the flexibility to select three modules from a range of biblical, theological and practical subjects on offer. It is ideally suited to those preparing for overseas service, or for those who only have a short amount of time to commit to study. The course can be taken in September or February.
