Community life

Belfast Bible College is a vibrant and diverse Christian community, where equal emphasis is placed on personal transformation in community, alongside academic learning.

Community life is a really important aspect of what it means to be a BBC student. Together as staff and students, we embark on a journey not only to grow in our knowledge of God, but also to seek to know Him more fully, so that we can communicate Him more clearly.

Although the personal journey on which God will take you during your time at BBC is of the utmost importance, you will not take this journey in isolation, but will be encouraged and supported along the way by brothers and sisters from many different countries, cultures and church backgrounds.  Life at BBC is about learning, growing and journeying together.

Community Life at BBC is expressed in many different ways, including:

Corporate Worship

The whole college community meets together once a week for a worship service. Music is led by members of the student body and speakers are drawn from a wide range of organisations and denominations. At the beginning and end of each term, we also celebrate communion together.

Corporate Prayer

Corporate prayers are an integral part of the BBC day, when students and staff are encouraged to take time out from the busyness of the day and listen to God.

Quiet Days

Each term we have a designated Quiet Day - lectures are cancelled, assignments are temporarily put to one side, and emails remain unanswered, as we take time together to reflect and be still before the Lord. Sometimes this involves going off campus in groups for the day.

Fellowship Groups

Fellowship groups meet once a week, with around 10 or 12 students in each group. Groups are facilitated by a member of staff, but all students help plan and lead the year's activities. The groups provide encouragement, support and accountability for all students throughout their time at BBC.

Student Duties

All students are encouraged to play a full and active part in community life by fulfilling a designated 'duty' during their time at BBC. This could be helping to serve lunch on a weekly basis, helping out with light cleaning duties or helping out at reception. Student duties are a key way in which we seek to serve one another.
