In order to be eligible for a place at BBC your English must be of a high enough level to enable you to study effectively. Details of the requirements for each of our courses are laid out below. 

College Courses
Our experience is that you must have a good level of competence in English to study effectively - Upper Intermediate level or above.

One of the following certificates must be held:

  • Cambridge First Certificate in English.

  • British Council IELTS at a score of 5.5.

  • TOEFL at a score of 525

    Degree Courses
    Queen's University stipulate that Applicants whose mother language is not English will be required to provide evidence of successful completion of an English language qualification.

  • The British Council IELTS Test with a score of 6.5 for study at degree or Masters level, and a score of 7.0 for study at PhD level.

  • The Cambridge Overseas School Certificate with Credit.

  • The Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.

  • TOEFL: The minimum acceptable score is 575 (Paper) or 233 (Computer). For Phd score is 600(Paper)  or 250 (Computer).
