In order to be eligible for a place at BBC your English obviously needs to be good enough for you to study effectively in this language while you are here.


Vocational College Courses
Our experience is that you must have a good level of competence in English to study effectively - Upper Intermediate level or above.

One of the following certificates must be held:

  • Cambridge First Certificate in English.

  • British Council IELTS at a score of 5.5.

  • TOEFL at a score of 525

  • A minimum of Grade C in GCE O-Level/GCSE English Language or equivalent.

  • A pass in the Use of English conducted by a GCE examining board.


  • Academic Degree Courses
    Queen's University stipulate that Applicants whose mother language is not English will be required to provide evidence of successful completion of an English language qualification.

  • The British Council IELTS Test with 6.5, and for Phd with 7.0

  • The Cambridge Overseas School Certificate with Credit.

  • The Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.

  • TOEFL: The minimum acceptable score is 575 (Paper) or 233 (Computer). For Phd score is 600(Paper)  or 250 (Computer).

  • A pass in the Test in English or Test in English Overseas of the Northern Examination and Assessment Board.

  • A minimum of Grade C in GCE O-Level/GCSE English Language or equivalent. A pass in the Use of English conducted by a GCE examining board.
